Examples of qualifying changes
- Marriage or divorce.
- Birth or adoption.
- Death of a dependent.
- Gain or loss of other health coverage.
Otherwise, elections continue
Elections normally remain in effect for the calendar year unless a qualifying event permits a change. Annual open enrollment typically occurs in November, but actual dates come from enrollment communications.
Contribution and account changes
The book refers to separate source content on HSA contribution changes and FSA changes without supplying all those rules on this page. The HSA page says contributions can be changed anytime; do not apply that statement to every FSA.
Report and document
- 1
In Oracle: Me / Benefits / Report a Life Event.
- 2
Report the event and request coverage changes within 60 days of the event.
- 3
Provide proof documentation within the stated 30-day window, after confirming its start point with HR.
- 4
The book says changes are effective when reported. Confirm how this applies to your event.
Before you decide
The book gives 30 days for proof of an event but never defines what starts that clock. The site does not invent a date.
Next step
Report the event in Oracle within 60 days of the event.
